If we divide this word into Break and fast then the meaning is breaking the fast. After dinner generally, we go to sleep and for nearly eight hours we don’t eat or drink anything. So it is like we are on fasting for eight hours and then in the morning when we eat, that is the time when we break our whole night fast, so it is called breakfast.

An old saying is that we should eat breakfast like a king because breakfast is the most important meal of the day as a good and healthy morning meal helps us to stay energetic and productive the whole day. Different parts of the world have different eating habits, so breakfast can vary from region to region.

1) Oats and milk- oats are very nutritious as they are rich in various types of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Oats are a good source of fiber too. They can be used with milk and some dry fruits as breakfast because they are light but can give a good amount of energy. One more benefit is that they don’t require any cooking and can be taken even when we have very little time in the morning due to office time.

2) Eggs – They are a very good source of proteins and they can be taken in various ways like boiled eggs, or in omelet form with minimum oil. Eggs are especially good for growing children and people who are looking for weight loss with good muscle growth.

3) Chickpeas- Also known as Bengal gram are a very good source of vitamins and proteins. They can be soaked in water overnight and in the morning after washing with water, a little amount of lemon juice and salt can be mixed and taken as breakfast.

4) Fruits: It is a very good habit to eat any fruits or drink fresh fruit juice with breakfast as fruits provide the necessary nutrients and vitamins for strong immunity. Apple, watermelon, grapes, oranges can be taken as fruit salad which is a tasty and healthy breakfast.

5) Idli – It is a famous South Indian dish mostly taken as breakfast. It is made by steaming fermented rice batter in the form of small flat cakes. It is very healthy because it doesn’t require oil, so it’s good to keep the cholesterol level under control. Mostly idli is taken with sambhar which is made from pulses and they are also a rich source of protein. So idli and sambhar can be used as a good breakfast option.

6) Bread – wheat flour or multi-grain flour bread is a good source of fiber which helps in good bowel movement and also is easily digested. It can be taken with green vegetables to have a complete breakfast.

7) Chicken breast – Those people who are doing heavy weight training in the gym and are looking to develop good muscle mass can have boiled chicken breast as they are a good source of protein which is required for muscle growth. Chicken breast can be put in boiling water along with vegetables like carrots, and broccoli, and salt with black pepper can be added for taste.

8) Porridge – These are made up of broken wheat and are very healthy and nutritious, especially for diabetics. It can be eaten as breakfast by mixing with warm water.

9) Flat rice- It can be soaked in water for three to four minutes and then after straining the water, it can be mixed with yogurt and jaggery. It is very filling, so a little amount can be enough to keep us full till lunch.

10) Cottage cheese and yogurt-  It is an easy and quick recipe which don’t require any cooking. Strawberry or blueberry can be mixed with these which enhances the taste.

11) Banana milkshake with oats – Banana is a good source of potassium and it can be mixed with oats and milk and blended to make a tasty drink that can be had along with breakfast.

12) Upma – It is a South Indian dish made with suji (semolina). For making upma first, add a little oil in a pan and then add onion, and tomato along with some finely chopped vegetables of choice and fry it a little bit. After the onion changes its color then add suji and a little salt and fry it a little. Add water and keep stirring it till upma changes into a semi-solid-like consistency. It is a quick-to-make, tasty, and healthy recipe.  

Along with breakfast most of people are inclined towards tea but it is not a healthy option, so it is better to have green tea which provides us with the necessary antioxidants and helps to prevents early cell death.
